Dreams to Reality: Storm Corrosion

by distractingdelusions

When whispers first started to circulate many years ago that Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth and Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree were possibly/maybe working on a collaboration, fans of both bands reacted with hushed and – some might say – over-cautious optimism. After all, news of such a brain-shattering collaboration could only be a rumour, right?

Happily, no. The project was swiftly confirmed by all involved as a genuine, long-term project and not just the crazed fantasy of a fan in dire need of blog hits to sate their ego. The project is called, Storm Corrosion and their eponymous début album is primed and ready to make landfall on the seventh of May.

However, you do not have to wait until then to hear the first track as they have just released the frankly, jaw-dropping video for, Drag Ropes, which you can see right here. The video was directed and animated by Jess Cope, who you should also check out at her tumblr and her new Vimeo page, which features more of her spectacular work. If you need any further incentive to watch the Drag Ropes video, just take a look at these gorgeous screen-shots:
