Points of Interest – Quick Links

by distractingdelusions

Here’s a quick summary of a few [actually, four] of the things currently on my radar:

#1 The Opening Cinematic for the new World of Warcraft expansion, Mists of Pandaria, debuted today.

It features the discovery of the island of Pandaria by two warriors, an orc and a human. As they fight in this strange new land they draw the attention of one of the locals, a Pandarian Monk (Monks being the new class introduced in this expansion) who  intervenes and deals with them in his own way.

You can go and watch it, here.

#2P.O.S. – Bumper, video.

P.O.S. has released a video for the first single from his next album, ‘We Don’t Even Live Here’. The song is, Bumper and right now, it’s my jam. P.O.S. is the rap-alias of Stef Alexander and if you haven’t heard him, or anyone on the Doomtree roster, you’re missing out. This is not mainstream gangster-rap junk. This is proper rap music with a message, as intended.

Do yourself a favor and check them out. Here are a few links to various other songs by P.O.S. and some Doomtree members:

Cecil Otter – Sufficiently Breathless

Dessa – Children’s Work

Dessa – Seamstress

Paper Tiger – The Bully Plank (instrumental inc. samples)

Paper Tiger – Cigana (instrumental inc. samples)

P.O.S. – Optimist (We Are Not For Them)

P.O.S. – Never Better

Sims – Like You Mean It

Sims – When It Rolls In

If you like what you hear, please support these artists by buying their albums and seeing their shows if you get the chance. I’ve yet to hear of a single person who left a Doomtree show disappointed.

#3MOLLY DANGER

I’ve written about this before. Jamal Igle’s project only has 14 days to go and still needs to raise just under $28,000 to get off the ground. Please go and take a look at the project page. I won’t repeat the reasons why I think this is a good project to support as you can find them in the article I’ve linked back to in the first sentence.

#4The Cartoon Art of Mike Deodato, Jr

The focus of this week’s, Kickstart The Week blog piece. The project is already funded and will be going ahead. But you still have six days to back the project and get the book when it’s released. Go Now!

There are a lot of things I’m loving at the moment that I haven’t included in this post. But here are some links to previous posts dealing with a couple of them:

Leaving Megalopolis, by Gail Simone and Jim Calafiore. {Now funded with 28 days to go}

and

My Gimpy Life – Teal Sherer’s awesome new web-series. {Now on episode, Three!}
